For the last 15 years, VANILLA POD have been mainstays on the UK underground punk scene, from their early days with releases on Thems Good, through to Deck Cheese, and now, I’m happy to say, we were cock a hoop to welcome them on board the good ship Boss Tuneage! And the reason why is that the bands fifth album “POETS ON PAYDAY” is to my humble little ears by the far the best thing have done to date!
If you have seen the Pod over the last year or so then you will already know how good this album is, as many of the tracks have been played out at their shows.. the band seems to have got a whole new lease of life, and that energy has transpired not only into the action on stage but also into the 9 new perfectly crafted tracks under the direction of the one and only Mr Wesley J Wasley.
You will of course find members of VANILLA POD also plying their wares in BILLY NO MATES, GOOBER PATROL and the TOY DOLLS, and “Walk Of Shame” even sees Olga from the TOY DOLLS making a guest appearance! Add in a couple of unreleased bonus track belters and “POETS ON PAYDAY” is pretty much the album you have always wanted VANILLA POD to make. If you don’t believe me, buy it and let me know!
