Hailing from Newport, South Wales, THE ABS were a great band over that late 80s/early 90s gained much more success over in Europe than they did in the UK, but those in the know will tell you just what classic stuff this band was capable of, from debut single “Grease Your Ralph” (probably the only punk song I can remember about a 70s footballers combover hairstyle) through to second and final album “Nail It Down”, what really set THE ABS apart was not just their great songs but also Baz Oldfield’s amazing voice – one of, if not, THE – finest vocalists of the era..
“ A WOP BOP A LOO BOP.. A COUGH WHEEZE FART” is all you ever wanted by THE ABS all in one handy 40 track double CD, containing both albums, both singles, their Peel Session and host of unreleased live tracks, some of which went on to be reworked in the awesome DOCTOR BISON, of which half of THE ABS went onto after the bands demise. Apart from that, members also ended up in the likes of DUB WAR, THE JONES and most recently The Rev and Dingo can be found plying their wares in BAD SAMARITANS alongside Beddis from the COWBOY KILLERS..
