Formed in the late 90s by original SNUFF guitarist and singer Simon Wells, not that many people probably expected to ever see a follow up to the bands “NOTHING IS EASY” debut from 2001 – but, an almighty 8 years later in 2009, we unleashed “ARMCHAIR SUPPORTERS” on an unexpecting public – and what a treat they got!
“ARMCHAIR SUPPORTERS” was fuelled by a momentum that a change in the band line caused. SOUTHPORT are now what can only be termed somewhat of a punk rock supergroup, featuring Simon alongside Dec Kelly from MIDWAY STILL on drums and Lloyd Chambers from old Boss T faves BLOCKO on bass – and between them SOUTHPORT has never sounded better!
If a new album after 8 years wasn’t enough, the remainder of 2009 saw the band touring not only the UK but also Japan and Germany.. the start of 2010 sees the band demo-ing new tracks as the momentum continues with more SOUTHPORT shows in the pipeline – we don’t think you will be waiting 8 years for the next album…
