F.U.A.L. were a fine, fine political melodic punk band from Belfast in the late 80s – they actually were the headliners at the very first gig I put on way back in 1990, as well as some of the driving forces behind the hugely inspirational Warzone Collective. Both their “Veganic Wind” demo and the following “Fuck Up And Live” album were firm favourites of mine, and had been on my “hit list” of reissues to do for a while, so it was great to finally get back in touch with the band and see both reissued on the Retro Series together on one CD in 2009, twenty years on from their original release.
The reissue contains remastered versions of the original recordings, and a thick booklet with all lyrics plus liner notes from the band themselves, and, as many zine reviews have pointed out, has stood the test of time very well indeed. As Suspect Device zine so eloquently put “A great punk rock album – dynamic, energy fuelled songs and political anger – what more could you want?”
