Beauty School Dropout

BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT is a name that might conjure up for you misty, dewy eyed memories of the late 90s UK pop-punk scene, the seeming endless series of Speedowax split 7” singles and the early issues of Fracture! The band were in existence between 1996 and 2001 and left us with one cracker of an album called “Teasing The Fat Kids” before heading off for pastures new (emigrating to Canada, or forming old Boss T favourites BAREFOOT for example, dependent on the band member!)

“PALOOKAVILLE (A RETROPSPECTIVE)” couples together all their recordings they made apart from the album – so you get treated to the original demo (tracks of which ended up on various comps and split singles), the bands last recording before they split in 2001 (which were previously issued on our long out of print “BOSS TUNEAGE INSTANT SINGLES COLLECTION VOL 2” comp) – plus – and this is the really exciting bit – three brand new songs recorded when the band got back together again in late 2009! Obviously living on separate continents doesn’t make things easy, but there is talk of some BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT reunion gigs in 2010 – let’s hope so!!
